What is an NVQ?

An NVQ is a National Vocational Qualification. A trade related qualification of experience and competence set against nationally recognised occupational standards.

Why do I need it?

UK Major Contractors Group requires a qualified workforce of contractors and subcontractors. To fulfil this requirement each operative will need to have achieved a relevant job qualification to obtain access to the majority of the construction sites throughout the UK.

CPCS Plant NVQ’s allows operators to progress from the CPCS Red Trained Operator card to the CPCS Blue Competence card.

What types of Plant NVQ are available?

Experienced Worker Practical Assessment Route (EWPA)

This is relevant for operators with at least two years’ experience (but this requirement is not mandatory). This route consists of induction, evidence gathering, professional discussion and practical assessment.

The NVQ can be completed over a short period of time.

On Site Assessment and Training (OSAT)

This route consists of induction, evidence gathering and workplace site assessments.

Our qualified NVQ assessors offer all categories of Level 2 Plant Operator and Slinger Signaller qualification as well as Level 3 Lift Supervisor and Level 6 Appointed Person.
