IPAF (International Powered Access Federation) is ‘Dedicated to promoting the safe and effective use of powered access’.
First Safety Training are able to offer MEWP (Mobile Elevated Work Platform) training for Operatives and Demonstrators in a variety of categories, including Scissor, Boom and Vehicle Mounted platforms.
Our training goal is to fully equip candidates with an in depth understanding of the essentials of safe operating procedures, accident prevention, emergency descent protocol and the related responsibilities of both employers and employees on construction sites throughout the country, so that they are able to safely operate powered access equipment. This is achieved by a combination of theory and practical training with our fully qualified instructors.
Scissor Lift or Static Vertical training qualifies the successful candidates to operate battery and diesel powered scissor lifts. Boom or Static Boom training qualifies successful candidates to operate vehicle mounted and trailer mounted booms.
Candidates can combine the two (3a Scissor and 3b Boom) for comprehensive MEWP training, which will qualify them to operate mobile booms, self-propelled booms, cherry pickers and scissor lifts upon successful completion of the training.
During all training courses candidates will also cover the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and other relevant legislation, including PUWER (Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations and LOLER (Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations).
