An NVQ is a National Vocational Qualification. A trade related qualification of experience and competence set against nationally recognised occupational standards.
Why do I need it?
UK Major Contractors Group requires a qualified workforce of contractors and subcontractors. To fulfil this requirement each operative will need to have achieved a relevant job qualification to obtain access to the majority of the construction sites throughout the UK.
What type of NVQs are available?
Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Plant Operations (Construction)
This qualification offers the opportunity for learners to demonstrate an achievement of practical skills, understanding and knowledge in the workplace – consisting of induction, evidence gathering and workplace onsite assessments.
It can be taken as a standalone qualification to demonstrate occupational providing evidence for operatives to progress from the red trained operator Construction Plant Competence Scheme (CPCS) card to the blue competent operator CPCS card, or for learners who are working directly towards their blue competent operator CPCS card.
Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction)
The qualification is designed to develop the learner’s knowledge and understanding for supervision in the construction industry. Learners will gain knowledge on managing health and safety, work activities and resources, coordinating and organising work operations, confirming occupational methods of work, developing and managing working relationships.
Achievement of this qualification will provide the evidence required for the learner to apply for their Gold – Supervisory Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (Building and Civil Engineering)
This qualification enables the learner to demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding, and demonstrate competence in a real workplace environment as a construction site manager within the construction industry. The course covers a wide range of key practical skills and knowledge for managing health, safety and welfare in the workplace as well as a broad spectrum of planning, operational and controlling requirements including developing and maintaining good occupational working relationships.
Achievement of this qualification will provide the evidence required for the learner to apply for their Black – Manager Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) card.
