CSCS Health, Safety and Environment Test

What is the CSCS Test?

The CSCS Test is a multiple choice Health, Safety and Environment Test. It is computer based and will assess you on areas of health and safety and hazards which are relevant to your specific trade. The basic CSCS test is the Operative CSCS test which is taken by the majority of workers including bricklayers, labourers and carpenters.

The CSCS test is designed to improve health and safety awareness and reduce accidents, injuries and deaths on construction sites.

All tests last for 45 minutes and have 50 multiple choice questions, including: –
12 Behavioural case study questions about how you should behave on a construction site to stay safe
38 Knowledge questions to check your awareness of Health, Safety and Environment issues

To apply for a CSCS card you must have the appropriate construction related qualifications and training and, in most cases, you must pass the CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test. The type of test you need to pass will depend on the job you do and the type of card you are applying for.
