This 2 day course is designed to ensure those with Site Supervisory responsibilities understand expectations and how they contribute to workplace safety.
Who Should Attend?
First line managers – those who have, or are about to acquire supervisory responsibilities that require an understanding of legal responsibilities relevant to their work activities. It will provide a sound knowledge base to enable them to give valuable assistance in safely managing a construction site.
The aims and objectives on the two-day course are to ensure that all those given supervisory responsibilities understand why they are carrying out their identified duties, what is expected of them and to ensure that they contribute to the safety of the workplace.

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
• Understand the problems of the industry
Have an understanding of how health and safety law is structured
Identify how their supervisory role fits in with the manager in controlling the site safely
Carry out risk assessments and understand the need for method statements
Carry out site inductions, toolbox talks and method statement briefings
Understand what is meant by proactive and reactive monitoring and appreciate their need
This course is a classroom based session with minor coursework and exam at the end of the second day.
Delegates successfully completing the SSSTS course will be awarded a CITB Construction Skills Certificate, which is valid for 5 years.
Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme Refresher Course
This 1 day course will reinforce and update your knowledge of your legal responsibilities for health, safety, welfare and environment in the workplace.
Who Should Attend?
People who currently hold a valid Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) certificate, which has been gained within the previous five years.
This course will improve and refresh knowledge of recent developments in construction, legislation and health, safety, welfare and environmental issues. It will also help Identify measures which will assist you in the practical implementation of responsibilities established by new legislation and working practices.
Delegates successfully completing the refresher course will receive a further SSSTS CITB Construction Skills Certificate, which is again valid for 5 years. Only those delegates who hold an existing SSSTS certificate and can provide evidence before attending the course are eligible to attend the refresher course.
If no evidence of previous SSSTS certification can be found, you will have to attend the full 2 day Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) course. Your certificate must be within 6 months of expiry and not expired.
